In their hiatus announcement , the remaining four members of Fifth Harmony stated that they were going their separate ways in order to "learn and grow creatively and really find our footing as individuals," which means that an onslaught of solo material from everyone who used to be in the band is on the way. While they are all surely hard at work on full-lengths, all five former 5H singers have already dropped songs without their bandmates, and some have even performed quite well on a number of charts in the U. They were preparing for this moment, and some already have some momentum building around their brands. Of the five former members, none have come even close to achieving what Cabello has in a short time on her own. She did give herself a head start as a solo act by departing Fifth Harmony over a year before they decided to finally call it quits, and she has certainly made great use of that time. Cabello is the only member to make it to No. Cabello also has four other Top 40 hits to her credit, including a second top five entry, and a trio of additional songs that have made it onto the Hot Aside from Cabello, Jauregui is one of just two other Fifth Harmony members to have made it onto the Hot with a song under their own name.

The group began working on their debut EP , Better Together. It was released in , following their exit from the second season of the American televised singing competition, The X Factor. The first single released from their debut EP, Better Together , was " Miss Movin' On ", a power pop song with a synth -backed chorus written by singer Julia Michaels among other writers. Their EP was subsequently released four times with an acoustic version, a remixes EP, and two Spanish versions, one standard and one acoustic. The group's debut studio album , Reflection , saw collaborations with different sets of producers and songwriters as well as artists who previously worked on their EP. A returning composer includes Julian Bunetta who co-wrote the titular track. The previous single, " Sledgehammer ", the synthpop and electronic dance song with new wave and 's music style influences was penned by Meghan Trainor with additional writing from Jonas Seberg and Sean Douglas. The lyrical content cast a more mature, reflective, darker and somber tone over Better Together , which critics noted as a step away from the group's "teen" image in their previous EP. New songwriters and producers for this record include Joshua Coleman , musician Kygo and Dallas Koehlke. The group's third album, Fifth Harmony , was released on August 25, following the departure of group member Camila Cabello.
